1. Sick day! You're down with the flu or some injury, you're bedridden or at the hospital. Aren't you lucky that that special someone came to visit you?
2. Date night! You've made special plans to show that someone just how much you love them and nothing can go wrong tonight.
3. Cheer up! One or both of you is feeling down and it's time to get out of that slump by either finding a way to distract yourself or talking it out with the other person.
4. Love confession! Your stomach is doing flip flops and your heart is racing, but you've read all the signs right, and it's time to let that other person know you feel the same way.
5. Goodbye for now! One of you is going away for some reason (It can be as simple or angsty as you want it to be) and you may be back or you may not, but you want to spend the time you've got left where you are with someone special.
6. Need a friend! You just want to hang out with the guys/girls and have a little fun.
7. I'm sorry! You had a fight with someone and now it's time to kiss and make up. . . or at least make up.
8. Been so long! You're back after a long trip somewhere and now it's time to meet up with someone you've missed a lot and make up for lost time!
9. I'll defend you until the end! You're going to fight for that person and you're going to let them know it or show them, whichever comes first.

2. hurt & comfort

1. INJURY. You've been injured. Broken bones or bleeding out or maybe just a tiny little papercut. The choice is yours.
2. SICKNESS. You're sick and laid up in bed, at home or in a hospital. The severity is up to you.
3. FEAR/ANXIETY. Something is happening and you're scared beyond belief.
4. LOSS OF SENSES. Sight, touch, taste, hearing, smell, etc. You've lost some important sense or ability and now you're left to deal with it.
5. DESPAIR. Nothing is good or right anymore and you can't shake the depression. Maybe that friend of yours can help though...
6. BREAKUP. You've been dumped. You need someone to comfort you, possibly by the one who dumped you.
7. MAKE UP. Fight or break up, it's time to makeup.
8. RESCUED. You've just been held captived and/or tortured for however long and finally, someone has come to the rescue.
9. BAD ROMANCE. Fight, cheated on, abused, whatever the case is, someone else can clearly seeyou need comfort from someone who isn't your terrible lover tonight.
10. LOSS. You've experience a loss of some kind and need help getting through it.

3. ELEVATORSTUCK
You are now being forced to endure the other person's presence. It doesn't have to be an elevator. You could be new neighbours, or locked in lockers together, or mysteriously tied together. idk. GO FOR IT.

[Striders don't cry. Well, that's bullshit, but no one has ever really seen Bro Strider cry. Maybe his siblings, once upon a time. When getting through each day was a struggle and words cut deeply into an already wounded child.

But then he grew up and manned up.

But no amount of preparation had ever trained Bro to stare at the lifeless body of his own kin. A brother that could almost be his son had he refused to be considered as a father.

If Bro was being honest with himself. He was still in shock. If Bro was honest with himself, he'd seek solace.

If he was honest with himself, he wouldn't still be cradling a lifeless corpse instead of of hoping he was just asleep and that he hadn't stopped breathing or gone cold.]

[ Striders may not cry, but Englishs do. Jake knew that it wasn't a very masculine characteristic to let your feelings show like that, but all the best action heroes knew when it was okay to let down the barriers. If Bro wants to cry, he wouldn't get a single strange look.

Jake was on the verg, but he just feels numb. Like his world just turned black and while and he could hit pause and step back, rewind, and figure out what just happened. But he can tell, it's obvious. His stomach is empty and lurches, his heart feels hollow.

Dirk was just the last person he ever expected to die...

It was a risk they all took, but everyone had turned to him for, well, everything. And after their conversation just the night before...

He feels broken. Selfishly. And for Bro. And Dave. And everyone. Fuck.

This wasn't how it was supposed to go. ]

[It was a few minutes longer before Bro...just went on autopilot. He put Dirk to bed. Like...like he really was sleeping. He tucked Dirk in and even pressed a kiss to his forehead.

And god damn, Bro was aware of what he was doing.

He stood up and moved to grab his sword. What was he going to do now? Vent his anger on undead carcasses? Yeah, that doesn't sound like a bad idea.

No, it was a terrible idea. He was risking himself to go fight some shitty zombies because he didn't want to come to terms that his brother was fucking dead.

And he knew Dave was going to need him, but he just felt so disconnected right now. Like he just watched someone tear his heart out and smashed it into nothing, then gave it back to him, expecting him to be right as rain.

He notices Jake finally.] English.

[ Bro's voice breaks him from his trance, the awful reality of time moving forward without Dirk already is nothing he wants to come to terms with. Dirk was his best friend, his first friend, maybe more, and he hates thinking about him in the past tense.

Wide green eyes snap up, looking wet and unsure. His grip on his pistols makes his knuckles turn white. ]

...What...happened?

How 'bout we mosey on outside and sit for a bit. We can talk 'bout shit. Just not here.

[Here is suffocating. Air sounds good. Fresh air. Just...not this room. This room felt too much like death.]

I'll tell you what went down. Sure will be some story. [His voice was level as usual. He had enough time to perfect those stony walls. If no one knew any better, some would even think that Bro wasn't affected at all. What they didn't know was behind those perfect walls was already destroyed and smashed to pieces.]

[ Jake gives no indication of moving. He's just staring and feeling so much younger than the sixteen years he actually is. When his Grandfather disappeared, he felt lost and alone, but he had always been spared the details. The mystery was miserable in itself, but this...

He had seen enough death in the movies. To see Dirk unmoving and--

[He sighs and puts his hand on Jake's shoulder, leading him out so they can sit in the grass or something.

Honestly, he had no idea how to deal with Jake English. He knew what the other meant to Dirk and he could see the attraction. Sure, Jake could be a real dumbass, but who wasn't sometimes like that?]

Chill. I'm going to have to hash out some overtly complex story, so try to keep up.

[ Jake moves, but doesn't take his eyes off Dirk until he's literally out of sight. No, no, no. He wants to hear, but he doesn't. He wants...he wants to wake up.

Bro is handling this surprisingly well, but Jake is more perceptive than he gets credit for. He looks up awkwardly. What is he supposed to say right then? "I'm sorry for your loss" feels so empty. He's sorry, yes. He's empty. ]

I'm all ears...

[Bro just finds a place for them to sit and starts talking.

He speaks evenly and he goes through the story casually enough. If anyone knew Bro though, he had practically went on autopilot. It wasn't him speaking. It was too disconnected for Bro to be speaking.

And maybe that's why he's handling this so well. He hasn't quite forced himself into the position of a brother who's just lost one of his only family members. He's numbed himself and forced himself to think about everything else.]
