Sometimes we all want to play some angst and see just how far our characters and and will fall.

1. just depressed.
Things are tough, you're feeling worn out, or whatever the case, you're depressed. You need help or someone else thinks you do anyway.

2. abandoned.
You were left behind by everyone you hold dear and now you're forced to see how well they've adjusted, how happy they all are while you're screaming inside.

3. sick.
Cold, flu, or something even worse, all you can do is lay back and let someone take care of you.

4. fight.
You've been fighting nonstop with the other person and it just keep escalating.

5. break up.
You're being broken up with and they won't reconsider... Damn.

6. separated.
For some reason, you've been separated from the other person for a long time.

7. kidnapped.
You've been held captive for how long now? Maybe they've been torturing you even, using your blood to write ransom notes, threatening to cut off fingers to send next, etc. Rescue is on the way though, right?

8. beaten up.
Just because someone didn't like you or maybe they wanted something you had, whatever the case is, you're coming home sporting some nasty wounds and bruises.

9. jealousy.
You just have this undeniable jealousy suddenly and you need to let it out.

10. cheated on.
This goes beyond just suspicion and you have full on proof of what your lover has done. How do you handle it?

11. apathetic.
You're not sad, you're not happy, you just... don't feel much anymore. The sparkle of life has gone right out of you and you're just going through the motions now.

12. addicted.
Drugs, alcohol, whatever your drug of choice is, you can't fight the draw and you can't draw yourself out of the hole, but the other person is going to try.

13. bad romance.
You know this isn't good for either of you, but you can't stop now.

14. fear.
Nightmares, the feeling someone is following you, etc. You can't shake the feeling.

15. insanity.
You're seeing things and hearing them, waking up only to realize you've done things you don't remember or you're in a place you weren't before. You're losing it and you don't know what to do.

16. guilt.
It's eating you up inside and you have to tell someone about it now. You want to be punished and you won't take no for an answer.

17. loss
You've lost something dear to you.

18. wild card.
Combine some options or make your own!

fluff scenario

1. Sick day. You're down with the flu or some injury. Whatever the reason, you're bedridden or at the hospital. Aren't you lucky that that special someone came to visit you?

2. Date night. You've made special plans to show that special someone just how much you love them and nothing can go wrong tonight.

3. Cheer up. One or both of you is feeling down and it's time to get out of that slump by either finding a way to distract yourself or talking it out with the other person.

4. Love confession. Your stomach is doing flip flops and your heart is racing, but you've read all the signs right, and it's time to let that other person know you feel the same way.

5. Special gift. Maybe it's the first time, or maybe this is the gift that really counts. Birthday, Christmas, or just a random present, you've been planning and saving up for this one and are hoping that special person will like it.

6. Last time (for awhile). One of you is going away for some reason (it can be as simple or angsty as you want it to be) and you may be back or you may not, but you want to spend the time you've got left where you are with someone special.

7. Pillow talk. You've just had fantastic sex (which playing out is optional!) and you're both content to lay back and enjoy a little bit of pillow talk or maybe go for round two as soon as you catch your breath!

8. Shared dessert. Whether it's because you're both cheap or you're one of those cute, lovey-dovey couples who love sharing desserts, the two of you are sharing that delicious ice cream sundae or cake with one another. Did some of it get on your partner's nose? Or maybe you want to go ahead and take a bite out of the cookie sticking out of their mouth.

9. Need a friend. You just want to hang out with the guys/girls and have a little fun.

10. I'm sorry. You had a fight with someone and now it's time to kiss and make up. . . or at least make up.

11. A moment at home. There's nothing better than enjoying a peaceful day without anything to worry about. Maybe you'll share a book with a friend, or just enjoy some tea and catch up.

12. Been so long. You're back after a long trip somewhere and now it's time to meet up with someone you've missed a lot and make up for lost time!

13. I'll defend you until the end. You're going to fight for that person and you're going to let them know it or show them, whichever comes first.

14. Pillow fight. You're both feeling the need to have some friendly horseplaying, and what better way than with pillows?

15. Wild card. Reroll, pick an option, or come up with something else.

[ thank fuck, he wants to say, but he can't stop staring long enough to say it. he sure smells bad enough to be one of the living dead, never mind how he looks. ]

You sure?

Sure. I'm sure. [ Except the thought sounds broken and Dirk's swaying a little. This isn't the calm, collected genius that planned his life down to the second, the one that kept emotion and duty as far removed as he possibly could - this is a wreck of a man, a hollow shell with so very little keeping him moving. ]

[ no, certainly not. dave actually backs away a little at that, unintentionally. if dirk says he wasn't bitten then he can believe it, but that doesn't excuse everything else. ]

Okay, whatever you say, dude. I can get you, uh—a first aid kit or something. [ a glance over his shoulder. nobody's noticed he's over here yet. ]

Okay. [ Dirk's gaze wanders from his brother back to the woods, back to the compound. He takes an uneasy step back, half-turns to the tree line and turns back, pausing uncertainly. ]

Just wait here a sec.

[ an uneasy look toward dirk again, then he slides away, back along the shadowed wall. he makes his way toward the cluster of sleeping people, picking his way silently around, moving slow so he doesn't wake anyone up. the night guard is on the clear other side of the room and doesn't turn until dave's already nabbed one of the kits, popping it open to make sure it has what he needs before he flashsteps away again.

so stealth. there's no chance of him jumping up in front of dirk with it, anyway, since he's... really not comfortable enough with him to approach that quickly. or get that close. when he holds the thing out, he does it with his arms fully outstretched, plenty of space between them. ]

[ Dirk stares at the kit in his hands uncomprehendingly for a moment before reaching out to take it. His fingers are bone-thin and leave smears of black where they touch. He almost doesn't have the strength to hold it up.

Retreating a few steps, Dirk gingerly lowers himself and opens the case. ]

[ dave just backs off when dirk takes it from him, watching him with worry. he's never seen dirk look so awful before in his life, never so out of control and messed up. he was always the guy on top, and now he's too afraid to get anywhere near him.

after a moment or two he slips away again, headed for the food supply. there's not much—honestly, they're running real low for a group this big—but he grabs a can of soup and some vegetables that are still halfway decent-looking and brings them over, too. ]

[ Dirk's got his shirt off by the time Dave's turned. Not that there was much of it left. Underneath he's all skin and bones, shaking and sweating and trying to clean his wounds. Underneath the layers of dirt and grim he's covere in wounds, some more savage than others, but none a bite. He's a god damn mess but he's still alive.

Dave.

Dave?

Dave.

He glances at the food offered. He has no appetite anymore, but he knows he has to eat. Even if his stomach rolls at the thought and he's not sure if he can trust food that he hasn't watched himself.

He starts wrapping bandages around his skinny arms. ] You forgot me.

I didn't forget you.

[ slowly, he kneels down, leaving the food next to the medikit for him. it makes him queasy to get so close, and he swallows thickly as he backs away again, trying to fight off the urge to be sick. ]

We couldn't stop, they wouldn't let anyone go back and then we had to stop looking because we were getting fucking swarmed. ...I thought you were dead.

[ His chest heaves with every breath, as if his lungs are unable to get enough air. He continues to calmly wrap the bandages. ]

I can see how the hierarchy has changed. [ And other things. How relationships formed around the hole he left.

How he never mattered at all. ] If I get close, they'll shoot me.

No.

[ he's very firm on this, narrowing his eyes. he just got his brother back, he's not about to lose him again. ]

I'll talk to them, you'll be fine. You're not sick.

They won't believe you. [ His arms drop back to his sides, staring blankly at the food. ] Another mouth to feed.

[ He gathers the food in the wrecked remains of his shirt and stands, sways, and starts to stumble back into the woods. ]

But—

[ he's turned away, looking at the group again when dirk gets up, so he's pretty alarmed to turn around and find him on his way out again, standing. ]

Where the hell are you going?

Not far. [ He doesn't think. He can't go far, he has no where else to go. But he can't go there, there's no point. He's certain he'll be shot, he's a liability and he's already been replaced. ]

Got a gun?

[ as hesitant as he is to give him one, it's not like he can just let him go outside unarmed. ]

Attracts them. [ Step by careful step. One foot in front of the other. The undead are far from his biggest concern. ]

[ but—

but.

he frowns, fingers curling into fists at his sides. ]

Be careful. And don't go far, 'else I won't be able to [ check on you ] bring you shit.

[ His head bobs in a lazy nod. Dirk disappears into the treeline and out of sight. ]

[ as tempted as dave is to go after him, he knows better. after a long moment of standing and staring at the trees, he turns and heads back to the group, curling around his pillow. his eyes close, but he stays awake, head pointed toward the woods.

just in case. ]

[ The next day, Dirk is back. Lingering at the edge of the woods, watching from afar.

The group talks quietly, uncertain, afraid. Even if he's not infected, the fact that he's sick is all too clear to see. They don't have the supplies to save him.

They don't know what to do. ]

[ dave stays quiet for a lot of the discussion even though he's mentally arguing basically every point that comes up, alternating training his eyes on dirk, and staring off at nothing. once things settle down he launches into an unexpected spiel about how it doesn't matter if he's sick, they still need to help him, it's our fault he's that bad in the first place and what the hell is even wrong with you guys, how is this even a question, he's a person and he's still alive and nobody has any business throwing anyone to the dogs when they're all each other has left in the world. he was our leader, we can't just leave him. y'know. again.

an uncomfortable silence follows and dave gets angry, yells at someone to say something, and when nobody does he stands there in incredulity and then stalks away ("you guys are assholes"), bringing his weapons and his food for the day with him, over to dirk. nobody stops him this time, but they're all watching. ]

[ Again, Dave's approach is met with initial hostility. Dirk can't tell what they were talking about, only from the guilty expressions that it must have concerned him, his survival, and if he could leave he would but he has no where else he wants to be and nowhere else to go.

Still.

He does't want anyone to be that close. ]

[ he remembers not to get too close when he sees the way dirk reacts, stopping a few feet away and sitting right down on the floor, sword clattering on the ground beside him. it's pretty obvious he's pissed, and he doesn't feel much better over on this side of the room, but it's better, he figures, than sitting among a group of people that basically want to condemn the guy to death. ]

They don't want to help.

[ He flinches at the clatter, looking uneasy and ready to bolt. ] I told you.

I'm not okay with it.

[ he drags his sword closer to himself, a security blanket if he ever did have one. ]

I'm all hells of not okay with it. The fuck kind of people just let a brother die like that, when five minutes ago they were all saying how we gotta look after one another and all that? [ he spits, a sour taste in his mouth. ] Bullshit.
